The Goals of Green Voices

“Let the waters bring forth abundantly
The moving creature that hath life;
And fowl that may fly above the earth
In the open firmament of heaven.”

NFEC’s Green Voices Speaker Series is intended to promote interdisciplinary learning on the East End of Long Island. Area residents, including teachers and students, will learn about the local environment and use the power of the arts to both inspire awareness of its beauty and how we on the East End can better co-exist with the natural world.

The overarching goal of the Series is to provide a forum for the discussion of a variety of environmental issues, each unique. Speakers who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields will be chosen. The Series will celebrate the wealth of local knowledge and talent, and feature eclectic talks by distinguished speakers who are experts in their fields.

The broad objectives of Green Voices are to:
Raise public awareness about issues facing the East End environment
Share ideas to address local environmental problems
Inform attendees about nature and its processes
Re-envision our relationship with nature by proposing new ways for residents to co-exist with nature
Encourage attendees to take better care of our local natural resources
Broaden awareness of the environmental, art and educational resources available on the East End of Long Island
